Perhaps it was working eight years as a production manager for Trafalgar Tours International while living -- and sailing -- in Bermuda that gave Matthew the idea to take on a career in professional yachting.  Building on years of Caribbean cruising, racing and delivery experience as mate and skipper on yachts up to 64 feet in length, he has completed four modules of MCA training and earned three RYA certificates.  Matthew and his wife, Monika, crewed the Moorings Signature 4700 Series in Belize during the busy winter 2008 charter season.

Captain Speight holds two MCA / RYA Yachtmaster Licenses Commercially Endorsed, and is a PADI Advanced and Rescue Diver.  He has dual British and Canadian citizenship. 

Chef / Mate Monika Cabaj

Like her husband Matthew, Monika fell in love with sailing when she moved to Bermuda ten years ago and following a 12 year career as a dental hygienist she began earning qualifications to prepare for a career change.  Monika now holds two MCA / RYA Yachtmaster Licenses Commercially Endorsed, as well as a total of seven MCA and RYA certificates and First Aid & CPR training and is also a PADI Dive Master.

Monika’s attention to detail, positive attitude and enthusiastic personality together with her skills in the culinary arts make her an ideal charter yacht chef and have been an asset on her many deliveries and offshore races.  She will design a menu -- tailored to your preferences -- that will tantalize your taste buds.  Monika holds dual Canadian and Polish citizenship.
