| David Martirano
was born in Prince Edward Island, Canada, and has been sailing since the age
of four. Developing a love for being on the water at a young age, it was not
long before David found himself sailing between Canada and the US and then
to the Caribbean. After completing his schooling, David made the “natural
progression” to professional yachtsman at the age of 19. Since 1997 David has worked on many yachts and completed over 40 offshore deliveries, accruing sea miles and diverse experience while continuing to upgrade his licensing and qualifications. David held the position of first-mate on the world renowned 33 meter Bruce King Ketch WHITEHAWK, a position which he held for three years prior to being asked to take over as captain for another 3 years. During his 6 years on board David and his crew of 4 sailed WHITEHAWK between the East Coast of the United Sates and the Caribbean with a busy schedule of charters, regattas, and owner use, before the yacht was sold. David seized the opportunity to accept a position as First Mate / Engineer with the experienced captain Steve Maclaren on the beautiful 51 meter Herreshoff Schooner ELEONORA. He continues to enjoy an open invitation to crew on ELEONORA for regattas and deliveries. More recently David has been captain on the 36 meter Perini Navi S/Y GITANA followed by two and a half years on the 28 meter Bruce King J-Class replica SOPHIE. During this time David completed an extensive re-fit on SOPHIE and competed in a few regattas including a charter as the flagship and VIP spectator boat for Swedish challenge for the 32nd America’s Cup in Valencia. Captain David looks forward
to sharing with guests on QUASART his extensive sailing experience, easy
going manner and knowledge of the waters of the Caribbean and New England.
